Organic green rooibos is a light, naturally caffeine free alternative to traditional red rooibos. Its fresh, grassy flavour and gentle sweetness work well in a simple hot brew or a refreshing iced tea. This is pure loose rooibos, ready for your infuser.

    Brew

Use 1 to 2 teaspoons per 250 mL freshly boiled water. Cover and steep for 5 to 7 minutes, then strain through a fine mesh infuser. Adjust the brewing time to suit your taste.

    Drink

Enjoy plain to appreciate the lighter flavour, or serve chilled with a slice of citrus.

    Ingredients

100% organic green rooibos (Aspalathus linearis). Supplied as dried, cut rooibos.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is green rooibos tea?

Green rooibos comes from Aspalathus linearis, the same plant used for red rooibos. It is processed to limit oxidation, which keeps its flavour lighter and fresher.

Is green rooibos the same as green tea?

No. Green rooibos comes from Aspalathus linearis. Green tea comes from Camellia sinensis. They are different plants with different flavours.

    Does green rooibos contain caffeine?

Green rooibos is naturally caffeine free. It does not need a decaffeination process.

How does green rooibos taste compared with red rooibos?

Green rooibos is usually lighter and grassier. Red rooibos develops a deeper colour and a fuller, sweeter flavour during oxidation.

Can I make iced green rooibos?

Yes. Brew with hot water, strain, cool promptly and refrigerate. Serve over ice, plain or with citrus.

What infuser should I use for green rooibos?

A fine mesh infuser or tea filter works well because rooibos has small, needle-like pieces that can pass through a coarse strainer.

How should I store green rooibos?

Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, strong odours and moisture. Use a dry spoon and follow the best before date on your pack.
