Drinking Tea May Lower Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Triglycerides

Latest research suggest three or more cups of herbal tea a day is as good for you as drinking a lot of water — and maybe even better!
Herbal tea not only rehydrates as well as water does, but it may also protect against heart disease, improve metabolism, and some cancers.

Green tea has been linked to a variety of health benefits, including:

  • Improved digestion
  • Reduced risk of heart disease and cancer
  • Improved insulin response and reduced blood sugar levels
  • Reduced pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis
  • Reduced risk of dementia
  • Weight-loss

A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in July 2008 found that caffeine from tea (as opposed to caffeine from coffee) contains a natural protein called theanine, which counters the typical side effects of caffeine such as raised blood pressure, headaches, and tiredness.

If you enjoy tea, go ahead and add a few cups of green tea or Yerba Mate tea to your day. Some people may not like the flavour of high-quality green tea.
