Black, White or Green: Which tea is the best for weight loss?
When it comes to tea, there really is no wrong choice as there are so many benefits to be had by drinking your daily cuppa.
Tea protects your bones, helps to detox your body, keeps your smile bright, boosts your immune system, reduces your risk of heart attacks and strokes and even helps battle cancer.
However, which tea is the best when it comes to detoxing your body and weight loss?
Whilst white tea can improve your cardiovascular function and black tea is great for oral health, when it comes to weight loss, there really is no better brew than Green Tea.
Yes, Green tea helps you to lose weight and detox your body. (But no, the benefits of green tea cannot be found in green tea ice cream or green tea scented bath bombs: unfortunately, it is just found in the straight up cup of tea form)
Never fear! Green tea tastes amazing and who doesn’t love a good cuppa? So let us take you through what exactly green tea is, where it is from and how it helps you on your weight loss and healthy living journey!
What is Green Tea?
Green tea has been used as a way to detox and aid in weight loss for hundreds of years and is the least processed of four types of tea: green, oolong, black and white. Unlike other tea variants, green tea is steamed. There are many different varieties of green tea, but the main variants are Sencha, Matcha, Bancha and Gyokurocha.
Why Go Green?
Green tea has more health benefits associated with it than other tea because of the way it is processed. When being processed, it does not go through a fermentation stage, and as a result, it retains the maximum amount of antioxidants and polyphenols (all the good stuff you need to lose weight, be healthy and detox your body).
But how does that help me lose weight?
The antioxidants and polyphenols found in green tea work in two ways to help you lose weight. Firstly they speed up your metabolism. A fast metabolism means your body can cleanse itself of the toxins that build up in your body faster so that the toxins are not stored as excess fat. Moreover, a fast metabolism helps your body to burn more calories throughout the day (and whilst resting).
Secondly, caffeine, which is an antioxidant found in green tea, works to aid in fat burning and improving exercise performance (and your overall energy levels). Meaning you have more energy to work out, work harder and burn more fat cells than ever!
There are so many other health benefits to green tea, such as regulating your glucose levels which in turn prevents high insulin spikes and resulting fat storage, keeping your heart healthy and beating and slowing down the signs of aging on your skin!
With all these benefits to your health, it really is a wonder that we even drink anything else!
