Looking for ways to help you get to sleep?

All Natural Remedies To Help You Sleep

Why is it that as soon as our heads hit the pillow, all of a sudden your brain takes the opportunity to start thinking about the past, present and future. We have all been there, where it feels like your brain just won’t quit, and you lay awake sleeplessly, hoping that being up all night will not affect your 6 am wake-up call too badly.

(SPOILER ALERT: It does, and you remain cranky all morning until you have your first coffee of the day)

However, before rushing out to the chemist to knock back sleeping pills (that can have horrible and devastating side effects on your health and body), try some of these natural remedies to help put you to sleep faster.

    Get out of bed

Okay, so this tip may seem counterproductive, bur without winding down before bedtime, our brains are more likely to have racing thoughts as soon as you lie down. If you haven’t fallen asleep after 30 minutes of lying in bed, jump up and do something else until you are feeling tired. Just try to make sure that whatever you choose to do instead does not over-stimulate your senses or involve bright lights, as this will make it even harder to wind down.

A good way to unwind is with a cup of sleep tea, try our Bondi Unwind Tea to make sure you wind down after a long day. To really amp up the relaxation, try and turn off all your electronic devices and simply drink tea, reflect on your day and quietly meditate. This can do wonders for not just your sleeping patterns, but your overall mental health as well!

Create a space that is solely for rest

Your bedroom should be a retreat to restore your mind and body by sleeping. Therefore it should not be over-stimulating to your senses with bright lights or distractions. Your bedroom should not be the place to watch TV or be used as a second office. The best thing you can do for your mind, body and soul is to remove any electronic items that can keep you awake. Not only do they distract your body from getting a good night's sleep, they don’t allow you to relax fully, and they carry stress into your bedroom, which obviously is not going to enable you to sleep peacefully.

    Eliminate Caffeine before bedtime
While caffeine is great to wake up to and gets our bodies moving and active, this is exactly the opposite of what you want when trying to hit the hay. Caffeine can have a half-life of up to five hours, which means that depending on how much/strong your consumption was, up to 5 hours later, half of your drinks caffeine content could still be in your system.

If you simply can not do without your late night tea, switch to our Bondi Snooze Tea, which is caffeine free, promotes a good night's sleep and tastes great! As well as this, our Snooze Tea is created with chamomile, valerian, lemon balm and rooibos - which are all well known to relax the body and help with improving your sleep patterns and length.
